📲 Shortcut integration

Create a shortcut in the iPhone Shortcuts app to send to Pushany directly from the Share menu in Safari and other apps. Pushany added to the Home Screen can't appear in the Share menu, so use a shortcut instead.

First, in Pushany, go to Settings → Integrations → Shortcuts and press “Create API key for this device”. Copy the API key it shows (a string starting with pk_). The API key is shown only once. If you lose it, delete it and create a new one.

⚠️ Content sent from a shortcut reaches the server unencrypted. Text and URLs are encrypted by the server as soon as they arrive, but files aren't encrypted. Item names in the Shortcuts app may vary slightly between iOS versions.

1. A shortcut that sends text and URLs

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and tap + at the top right to create a new shortcut. Name it "Send to Pushany".
  2. Tap ⓘ (Details) at the bottom and turn on "Show in Share Sheet". Select "URLs" and "Text" as the accepted types.
  3. Add the "Get Contents of URL" action.
  4. Set it up as follows:
    URL
    MethodPOST
HeadersEnter Authorization as the key. For the value, enter Bearer followed by your API key. Put exactly one space between Bearer and the API key (Bearer pk_…).
Request BodySelect JSON. Add a field with type "Text", key body, and the variable "Shortcut Input" as the value.
  5. In Safari, tap the Share button and select "Send to Pushany" from the list to send.

If you tap ▶ in the shortcut editor to run it, there's nothing to send, so you'll get a "Nothing to send" error. Test it from the Share menu instead.

A URL on its own arrives as a link. Anything else arrives as a note.

2. A shortcut that sends photos and files

  1. Create a new shortcut the same way as in step 1 and name it "Send photo to Pushany". Turn on "Show in Share Sheet" and select "Images" and "Files" as the accepted types.
  2. Add the "Get Contents of URL" action and set it up as follows:
    URL
    MethodPOST
HeadersSame as step 1: Authorization / Bearer pk_…
Request BodySelect File, and set the value to the variable "Shortcut Input".

The file is named after the date and time it was sent. iPhone photos may be sent in HEIC format, which some PCs can't preview.
